Baptism

This week we are having a baptism so we decided it would be a good time to talk about it. First Cody outlines the essentials for salvation as described by the Bible:

1. Believe that God exists (and earnestly seek him) (Heb. 11:3, 6)

2. Believe Jesus is Lord (Rom. 10:9; 14:8)

3. Believe that Jesus is the risen Saviour (Acts 2:32, 36)

4. It is essential that a Christian is saved by grace through faith, not human effort (Eph. 2:8-9)

5. It is essential that a Christian be born again by the Holy Spirit

(Jn. 3:5-6; Acts 2:38; Rom. 8:9-11, 14-17)

6. It is essential that a Christian persevere in their faith (Heb.3:14)

Cody focuses in on the Holy Spirit and how we receive him. The Bible indicates that the normative time when one receives the Holy Spirit is at baptism.
